Philosophy

Our philosophy of treatment is supported by evidence based research and best practices. We implement treatment approaches that are proven to be the most effective in treating addictions. We embrace a motivational, solution- focused therapy with a focus on self-determination and the client taking responsibility for their life and recovery. We approach our clients in a non-judgmental, non-coercive manner and are client centered. We do, however, address addictive behaviours and distorted thinking patterns, and challenge clients to become aware of these.

We address addiction as a complex bio-psycho-social phenomenon that cannot be addressed with one-dimensional interventions. We, therefore, address all the different areas of a person’s life such as social, occupational, spiritual, emotional, physical and thinking (i.e. a wellness, balanced approach to life.) We attempt to make treatment interventions individualized to the client’s specific needs and stage of recovery. We view recovery as a process that is not linear in progression. We, therefore, provide clients with coping skills that sustain their recovery, even if they have temporary setbacks.
