Residential Programs
We approach treatment from a non-judgmental, holistic perspective and encourage clients to take responsibility for their own lives and recovery. We view our clients as capable adults who are valuable members of our society and who are quite able to change the direction of their lives. We do, however, recognize that the recovery process looks different for everyone. Our goal is to meet the client where they are at on the road to recovery and provide the tools that they need to move further along this continuum. We emphasize self-determination, personal responsibility and encourage our clients to re-write their life stories in a motivational, supportive environment. Crossroads has various different programs, all of which are tailored to meet individual client needs.

Residential Treatment Program
We offer a twenty-eight day intensive, residential program for men and women. The core components of this program are group therapy and psycho-educational workshops. The first days of treatment are spent in an Orientation Group. This group is designed to orientate clients to the treatment experience, answer questions, familiarize clients with the facility, and generally make them feel comfortable and supported. When clients are ready, they are moved into small therapy groups for the duration of their treatment. Our workshops and therapy groups include topics such as:

  • Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome

  • Neurobiology of addiction
  • Boundary setting
  • Reconstructing Beliefs
  • Managing Stress
  • Anxiety

  • Anger management
  • Communications
  • Feelings
  • Self Esteem
  • Improving Mental Health
  • Grief and Loss

Regular fitness and relaxation sessions are also incorporated into the program. In addition to the workshops, interactive focus groups, and therapy groups, a strong focus is placed on relapse prevention throughout the program.

Clients are not permitted to leave the facility during their first week of treatment. After the first week of programming, clients have free time and are allowed a day pass on their second weekend. In the third and fourth weeks, clients are allowed an overnight pass, depending on how well they are doing in programming.

The Men's Treatment Centre and Women's Treatment Centre are located in separate facilities and the programs are tailored to address the specific issues relevant to men and women.

Private Pay Residential Treatment Program
Crossroads offers fourteen men's and seven women's private beds for individuals who may not be eligible for a government funded bed (out of province, etc), require immediate entry, or prefer upgraded or more private accommodations. More flexibility is available to develop individualized treatment plans. This may include longer periods of stay, additional individualized counseling and family therapy.

See Private Pay Services for current Rates.

Detox – Withdrawal Management Unit
There are fifteen medically supported withdrawal management beds. Clients  are seen by a physician on a daily basis. Medical protocols and standing orders are provided to clients requiring medications to manage withdrawal symptoms.
Typically, a client will spend between 5 and 10 days in Detox, depending on what substance they are withdrawing from. Our Detox facility is clean, comfortable and supportive. Detox is covered under M.S.P. for British Columbia residents.

Private Pay beds are now available in our Detox at a rate of $250/day.

Supportive Living Program
Currently we have twenty-two supportive living beds for men in seven apartments (three per unit). We also have three beds for women in an apartment. Clients may stay in this Supportive Living Program for up to one year. During this time, clients participate in volunteer work, schooling or job readiness training. There is a curfew in place and clients attend regular therapy and group sessions that are offered. Clients are expected to stay free from illicit drugs and/or alcohol, participate in relapse prevention planning and attend support groups. Clients in this program need to be committed to making a lifestyle change in a supportive environment.
